How We Met

Our journey began as colleagues in the construction industry. I was working for the school district’s construction department on my first project, while Brandon was on his first project in North County, working as a Project Engineer for the contractor we hired to build the school. What started as a work connection soon turned into a genuine friendship.

Brandon remembers first noticing me during a Zoom coordination meeting in 2020, there I was in the top left corner of his screen, and he says he was instantly intrigued by my focus and determination. As COVID restrictions lifted and we started meeting in person, our site visits became something we both looked forward to.

We soon realized we were taking the same construction courses at SDSU, and our shared experiences made conversations effortless. Over time, we found common ground in our love for crime podcasts and documentaries, swapping recommendations at each meeting.

After months of getting to know each other, mostly through work conversations, Brandon casually asked in a text if I had any fun weekend plans. That simple message led to deeper conversations, moving us beyond just work topics.

Brandon says he loved hearing stories about my son, Cleric, my dedication to work, and my passion for learning. I, in turn, loved hearing him talk about his family and longtime friends—it was so clear how much he valued his circle. His kind heart showed through in so many ways, and as our friendship grew, so did our connection.

Our First Date

Our first date was completely unplanned. Brandon had mentioned wanting to visit Oceanside, so when I happened to be in the area and saw a sign for the sunset market, I sent him a last-minute invite. With just a couple of hours’ notice, he showed up.

We walked through the market, grabbed some food, and then found a bench near the pier, where we sat, watched the ocean, and talked for hours. It felt natural and effortless, the kind of night you don’t want to end.

Our Journey

After our first date, we bonded over our shared love for hiking, talked about future aspirations, and swapped travel bucket lists. Before long, work meetings turned into weekend adventures, and what started as a friendship evolved into something more. One evening, Brandon surprised me with a homemade meal and a Harry Potter movie night, and that’s when I knew our connection was different and that he truly cared about me.

Our love story took a charming turn when Brandon, quite by accident, confessed his love first, a moment that still brings a smile to both of our faces. It was perfect timing because I was ready to share my feelings too. His accidental admission made it even more special, a memory we still laugh about today.

As our relationship deepened, I introduced him to Cleric, a step that meant so much to me. Their connection was undeniable, and the three of us quickly began building cherished memories together, sharing hikes, movie nights, vacations, meals, and fun-filled weekends.

The Proposal

We both knew we had found our person and began talking about a future together. On June 1, 2024, Brandon planned a thoughtful and intimate proposal that reflected who we are as a couple. He knew exactly what would make me happy, and saying “yes” was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. It was a perfect weekend and a perfect proposal.

Dreams for Our Future

As we step into this new chapter, we’re excited not just for the adventures ahead but also for the everyday moments, morning podcasts together, inside jokes that never get old, and the unshakable support we’ve found in each other and as a family.

We’ve built our relationship on trust, laughter, and a deep understanding of one another, and we can’t wait to continue growing as partners. From big life milestones to quiet nights at home, we know that no matter where life takes us, we’ll face it side by side. We dream of traveling to new places, creating a home that reflects our personalities, and, most importantly, building a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.

We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you in June! Our wedding will be a reflection of who we are, filled with warmth, joy, and the people who mean the most to us. More than anything, we’re looking forward to standing together, promising forever, and sharing that moment with our closest friends and family.
